This desk. This desk right here. This was my desk when my office was still downstairs.
I used to operate like this. Piles. Stacks. It became just a dumping ground for all of the stuff that I carried around. For the things that I would get around to. I would have to spend time before each call cleaning off my desk so I would feel put together. Often, I'd end up with piles in the floor around my chair. And I was, in some way, stuck. Trapped. By my stuff. Some that didn't need to be on my desk. And some that didn't need to be in my possession at all.
Through our KonMari process, I cleared a lot of my stuff. And that has created a lot of empty space. So much is just gone. And that means lots of space for the things that I decided to keep. And now my desk looks like this.
Everything has a place. When I use something, I put it back. Washi tape and stickers go in the top compartment of my rolling cart. Notebooks go down below in the table-shelves-legs. I am much more able to focus because I have only what I need around me. I'm not distracted by "OH! I need to write that letter!" or "Which color post-it do I want to use?"
I love this space. My books go on shelves. My supplies to in my cart. My notebooks go in my desk legs. I have room for plants and candles. This desk is just more me.
I have a similar feeling about my closet and my living room, but I feel like my office space just brings a peace to an area of my life that can feel a little up-in-the-air right now.
MyMay starts TOMORROW! A month of intentional self-care pursuit. We'll track your self-care practices in different ways with a different printable each week of May!
What you'll get:
- A guided process to set intentions, dreams and goals through daily emails April 30-May 3.
- A new printable (designed by Cassie at Back to her Roots!) for each of the four weeks, beginning May 4 and running through May 29. Each week will present a different way of looking at pursuing your self-care goals.
- A private facebook group (which I will check daily) to share your successes and your challenges.
- Optional one-on-one coaching to accompany your progress. We would schedule a call (skype/facetime/old-fashioned phone call) during Week 1 to discuss your goals. I would check in via email or text message once a week throughout the month to discuss successes and challenges.
