yoga fever! (is that a thing?)

Once I found the courage to speak out loud (technically, in writing), I feel so liberated and motivated. I am just a sponge for yoga. I’m loving learning more about what I know, and learning how much I don’t know. At all. But I’ve been in this space before. When I decided to start running. When I decided I wanted to coach. And that is just in the last 5 years. I feel like there is a huge amount of stuff to be learned right on the other side of a big, sturdy, oak door and I have barely nudged it open.

And it feels FANTASTIC.

Part of this has been tons and tons of research. I walk a fine line between being overwhelmed and being adequately stimulated to maintain excitement. So these are my finds – both over the last few days and things I’ve been using sporatically for a while.

I found Yoga Download ages ago. I know I had classes on my blue iPod, so it has been years ago. I love this site because I can try 20 minute classes for free and then buy extended sessions of the same class if I love it. (I bought the Bikram series so I can do it at home.) For the past year or so, though, I’ve used the app pretty much exclusively. For a minimal fee (a whopping $3), there is access to a ton of 20 minute classes + PDF pose guide with the occasional full-length bonus class. My favorites? Episode 63: Yin Yoga, Bonus app: Goddess Yoga, and 82: Energizing Twists.

I found out about the 30 Day Yoga challenge from DoYouYoga from a facebook fitness group by my sweet friend, Angie. And I was hooked. Immediately. I don’t do them in order and I’ve done several of them multiple times because I love them. Once you get the initial email, you can view the entire 30 days. I am totally enamored. I did the lower back series today.

The 30 Day Yoga Challenge is taught by Erin Motz and I have a serious yoga crush on her. Like my crushes on Danielle Laporte and Mara Glatzel. It is bad. I’m soaking up her website something fierce. I love that she doesn’t use a lot of jargon, unapologetically eats meat and ice cream, and has already taught me a slight variation of transitioning into Child’s Pose that makes all of the difference for me.

I haven’t been to my yoga class for a while (because it is so crowded), but I really enjoy practicing yoga with AnneDean. She posts her yoga playlists on Spotify. These help me so much to get into the yoga mindset. While I’m cooking dinner. While I’m working on spreadsheets. While I’m typing this. Playlists from AnneDean are always pleasantly surprising and I find so much that I love that is new to me. So maybe this isn’t exactly yoga related, but it is close enough for me.

So my Practice course with Anna Guest-Jelley and Vivienne McMasterjust started yesterday, but I am super duper excited about it. Yoga + self-portraits? Yup. I’m so glad I took the chance on this one. So glad.

I know I have only barely started to scratch the surface with resources out there, but I am kinda on fire right now.

What do you know about that I should know about?
